The Noblesville Millers defeated the Leo Lions 5-2 in extra innings in Saturday afternoon’s IHSAA Semi-State Semi-Final game.
The game was tied at two with the Millers batting in the top of the eighth when junior Julia Furiak doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
Noblesville opened up the scoring in the second inning. Senior Grace Smith doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Leo evened things up at two in the bottom of the fifth inning when Haley Hines grounded out, scoring one run.
Freshman Maddie Taylor got the win for Noblesville; she went eight innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, and striking out five.
Mackenzie Rust took the loss for Leo; she allowed five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six.
Ashley Miller started the game for Leo; she allowed three hits and two runs over three innings, striking out one, and walking one.
Noblesville totaled eight hits. Furiak and junior Kyleigh Lowry all managed multiple hits for the Millers. Furiak went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Noblesville in hits. Rust led Leo with two hits in four at-bats.
