Noblesville Millers Softball earned the third regional championship in program history and the second in the last four years on Tuesday night at Harrison High School in West Lafayette.
The Millers defeated the Harrison Raiders 6-3 in dramatic fashion.
The Millers trailed 2-1 entering the sixth inning. Freshman Ella White tied the game at two when she scored on a wild pitch. The Millers then loaded the bases for Grace Smith, and the senior gave the Millers the moment of the year with a grand slam down the left field line to give Noblesville the 6-2 lead.
Maddie Taylor earned the win for Noblesville. She went seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out three, and walking one.
J Mathis took the loss for Harrison. She allowed four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out three.
Chloe Tragesser went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Millers in hits.
Harrison totaled seven hits. K Goff and O Stansbury each racked up multiple hits for Harrison. Harrison was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Stansbury had the most chances in the field with ten.
Noblesville will play the Leo Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the same venue at Harrison High School in West Lafayette. The winner will advance to the Semi-State Championship Game on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. versus the winner of the 11:00 a.m. game between Penn and Lake Central.
