Miller Softball fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-6 loss to Western Boone on Tuesday.
Western Boone scored on a double by Mya Fisher and a sacrifice fly by Gabby Lewis in the first inning.
Despite the loss, the Millers did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Western Boone had ten hits on the way to victory.
Western Boone got things started in the first inning. Fisher doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.
Western Boone scored three runs in the sixth inning. Western Boone scored its runs on a home run by Fisher.
Hannah Redlin was the winning pitcher for Western Boone. The hurler surrendered six runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out four. Makenize Amich threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Amich recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Western Boone.
Kira Thomas took the loss for the Millers. The pitcher surrendered five runs on six hits over four innings, striking out one and walking one.
The Millers socked one home run on the day. Scout Duplaga went deep in the sixth inning.
The Millers totaled eight hits. Duplaga and Reis Sjoholm all collected multiple hits for The Millers. Duplaga went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Millers in hits and Abby Harvey collected 3 RBI.
Western Boone tallied ten hits in the game. Redlin and Fisher each racked up multiple hits for Western Boone.
