The Noblesville Millers lost to the Homestead Spartans 24-21 in an Overtime thriller in the Sectional on Friday at Beaver Materials Field in Noblesville.
The Millers took the lead in the first quarter on a Alex Zavac 8 yard touchdown pass to Jayden Barrett. In the second quarter, Elijah Butler broke free for a 57 yard touchdown run to give the Millers a 13-0 lead. The Spartans scored late in the 2nd quarter to cut the lead to 13-7 heading into halftime.
Homestead was able to finally take a 14-13 lead with six minutes remaining in the game, but the Millers marched right back down the field and took the lead back with an Elijah Butler 6 yard run. Jayden Barrett ran in for a 2 point conversion on the following play to give the Millers the 21-14 lead. Unfortunately, the Millers missed a few opportunities to stop Homestead on the final drive of the game and the Spartans were able to tie the game on the final play of regulation. Homestead would ultimately hold the Millers scoreless in overtime and kick the game winning field goal to advance in the tournament.
Elijah Butler led the Millers with 162 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
