The Millers beat the Shamrocks of Westfield on Tuesday night. The game was delayed a half an hour due to storms in the area. However, that did not stop the Millers from coming out strong from the start. The Millers dominated possession and had more opportunities than Westfield did in the first half. Despite their multiple efforts on goal, the Shamrocks GK kept the Millers off the score sheet.
In the second half, it was more of the same. The Millers had the better opportunities but could not find the back of the net. Finally, freshmen phenom Palmer Ault single-handedly beat 3 Westfield defenders to create a chance in the box. By drawing the GK to the near post, he was able to slot a pass to Drew Barnes, who calmly slid the ball into the back of the net. The Shamrocks pushed hard in the last 10 minutes of the game, but a change in formation for the Millers allowed reinforcements in the defense, which stood tall all game.
The Millers look to continue their winning streak when they travel to Fort Wayne this Saturday for a double header against Blackhawk Christian at noon and Homestead at 5:30. Go Millers!
