The Millers beat the Franklin Central Flashes on Tuesday night 4-0. Josh Lewis and Miles Atkins each played a half to pick up the clean sheet. The first half ended 0-0 but not because the Millers didn’t have chances. The best opportunity came as Tommy Gregory got behind their back line and rifled a shot off the post. On the other end Josh Lewis made a nice kick save o a Flashes break away.
In the second half, the Millers brought more intensity, determined to get on the scoreboard. Gabe Imes opened the scoring with a nice low shot to the far post past a diving goalkeeper. Palmer Ault scored next with a great shot to the near post upper 90. With about 15 minutes left in the half Sam Johnson had a great back heal pass inside the penalty area that Curtis Martin was able to absolutely bury back post for his first goal in 4 years of playing on varsity. The final goal was scored with some nice combination play between Sam Dudgeon, Drew Barnes and Tyler Cassidy with Cassidy finishing with a shot just below the crossbar.
The Millers are now 7-5-1 and face #18 Lawrence Central on Thursday for Senior Night. Come on out and support your Miller Seniors for one of their last home games.
