Game Recap

The Noblesville Millers Varsity Girls Soccer team won a thriller over the Hamilton Southeastern Royals 3-2 in an exciting game that decided the Hoosier Crossroads Conference Championship.

The Millers simply needed to win this game. A tie or loss would result in Hamilton Southeastern winning the championship and both teams played like they knew what they had to do to win a championship.

Both teams had good looks and chances on goal in the first half, but couldn’t break through. Suddenly, with a little over 33 minutes left in the 2nd half, the floodgates opened and the teams played a half that won’t soon be forgotten.

Noblesville and Hamilton Southeastern combined to score 3 goals in a span of 2 minutes and 11 seconds.

The Royals took the first lead of the game with 33:23 remaining in the game on a breakaway by Layla Brown.

92 seconds after the Royals scored, the Millers were fouled in the box by the Royals; senior Abby Martin scored on the ensuing Penalty Kick.

39 seconds after the equalizer, the Royals scored again; taking advantage of a complacent Miller defense off of the kickoff.

The Millers played from behind for the next thirteen and a half minutes until a foul was called against the Royals from 35 yards away from the goal. Carly Hudnall, using the wind to her advantage, launched an untouchable missile into the opposite corner of the goal to tie the game up 2-2.

The score was tied until under 7 minutes to play when Keeley Hoopingarner got the ball and was able to break free of the defense. Hoopingarner drove the ball deep into the box and barely slipped it past the Royals goalkeeper, who was able to slow the ball down. The ball bounced up in the air and eventually crossed the goal line and into the goal to complete the come-from-behind victory.

The HCC Champion Noblesville Millers completed the regular season with a record of 10-2-3 (4-0-2 HCC) and will play the Anderson Indians on Thursday, October 5 in the Semi-Final round of IHSAA Sectional #8 at Hamilton Southeastern High School. The game will follow the first game of the night which starts at 5:30 p.m. and will feature the winners of Tuesday’s opening round games.

Game Recap

A second in a three game series, Noblesville faced off with Guerin.

Intensity was present right out the gate in the first half. Great talking done by the Millers. There was great passing made by midfielders Garrett Poynter and Kyle Marshall, as well as some major hustling on the wings from Josh Lamantia and Oscar Reynolds. Goals scored by Nathan Smith and Sam Greenaway put the Millers up 2-0 by half. Nick Johnson had solid communication with his defense, clearing the ball very cleanly a few times.

A switch in goalies put Nathan Logue in the second half. The defense broke it down before going in and ended with “Protect Logue!” Energy was very present. The Miller’s were able to keep the ball on offense for most of the second half leading to 5 goals by Sam Greenaway, Ayden Dripps, Lucas Carter, Ethan Baker, and Jake Sexton! Nathan Logue had some solid saves.

The Millers are back home Wednesday to end their season against Hamilton Southeastern. Come cheer them on to end the season with a win!

Game Recap

The Millers lost to HSE on Thursday night 1-0. The Millers played a strong first half with good intensity and possession. They had many opportunities on net but could not put one in. They went into halftime tied 0-0.

Unfortunately, The Millers had a defensive breakdown with about 20 minutes remaining in the game that allowed a 1 v 1 to goal. HSE converted and took the lead 1-0. The Millers were unable to find the equalizer. The two teams will play again in less than a week when they face each other on Monday in Sectional.
