Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but Noblesville Millers Varsity fell to Zionsville 12-8 on Wednesday.
Zionsville captured the lead in the first inning. Kyle Richardson drove in two when he homered in the first inning.
Noblesville Millers Varsity knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the first inning. Mark Goudy homered on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring three runs.
Zionsville took the lead for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth there was an error, scoring one run, Sam Edgell doubled off of Reese Sharp, driving in two runs, and Chad Garisek singled off of Sharp, driving in two runs.
Justin Castetter earned the win for Zionsville. He went five innings, allowing zero runs, four hits, striking out seven, and walking one. Sharp took the loss for Noblesville Millers Varsity. He pitched four innings, allowing nine runs, 11 hits, striking out six, and walking one.
Nick Brier started the game for Zionsville. He went two innings, surrendering eight runs, seven hits, and striking out one.
Home runs for Noblesville Millers Varsity came when Bryce Masterson homered in the second inning and Goudy homered in the first inning.
Noblesville Millers Varsity collected 11 hits. DJ Owens, Alex Cleverly, and Goudy each collected multiple hits for Noblesville Millers Varsity. Owens, Goudy, and Masterson each drove in two runs to lead Noblesville Millers Varsity.
Zionsville had 16 hits in the game. AJ Cantrell, Edgell, Garisek, Tyler Milby, Riley Bertram, Nick Nelson, and Richardson each collected multiple hits for Zionsville.
