Noblesville Millers Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 16-0 loss to Carmel on Monday. Carmel scored on a triple by Parker Massman and an error in the first inning.
Carmel captured the lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Parker Massman drove in one run when he tripled.
Carmel scored seven runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Carmel came thanks to a home run by Rhett Wintner, a single by JC Hanley, a single by Justin Greene, a single , and a single by Chris McNally.
A single by DJ Owens in the fourth inning was a positive for Noblesville Millers Varsity.
Max Habegger earned the win for Carmel. He tossed five innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, and striking out four. Tyler Owens took the loss for Noblesville Millers Varsity. He threw two innings, surrendering two runs, one hit, and walking zero.
Home runs for Carmel came when Hanley homered in the fifth inning and Wintner homered in the fourth inning.
Owens went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Noblesville Millers Varsity in hits.
Carmel collected 15 hits. Jack Van Remortel, Greene, Wintner, and Hanley each collected multiple hits for Carmel. Carmel didn’t commit a single error in the field. Wintner had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
